Ed's notes on Life, Business, Dogs,
People, Culture, Politics, Humor, and More

has never materialized.

Ok, I have wanted to start blogging since about 2007 and never quite gotten around to it.  .

Until I get it done if ever, here are some quick ways to check out what I'm up to.

You already found the Dog Blog so you know about my girls.

Things are going well.  Business is good.  Too good to work on my personal blog.  And that's OK.

I am still doing websites - check out the latest on my Fort Lauderdale Website Design and Optimization work.

The optimization work is going real well and I have Andy's Fort Lauderdale Real Estate website coming up in the top two or three on a Google search for Fort Lauderdale Real Estate, Fort Lauderdale Realtor and more.  I'm getting pretty good results for others too.

Also started a company for Condo and Property Management in Fort Lauderdale, which has been going well.  My focus is on a very small geographic area, only a couple of zip codes, so I can be more attentive to the client's needs and not waste a lot of time traveling all over town to check things out.  And I have lots of people helping out with maintenance and all the rest.

My brother and I visited our dad recently, just a few weeks before he died on April 12, 2010 at age 96.  Here's the link to his obit.   He looked good when we saw him Just a little more bewildered.

On another visit we spent 20 minutes talking about whether it was 8:00 AM or 8:00 PM.  It wouldn't have been an issue except he wanted breakfast and he had just had dinner about two hours earlier.  It got dark outside before we were done talking about it, which made him just a little more confused so he just went to bed.

This time when we arrived his attendant told him we were his sons. He looked at us carefully, said he didn't believe it, and walked away on his cane.

Later in the afternoon he woke up and talked with me and he finally understood me to be his first born son.

He asked me a lot of questions including my name.  He laughed that we have the same name.  He asked about what I do and where I live, if I am married, if I have children, where I went to school.  He asked who my mother was.

He repeated his questions many times and at several points stopped and seemed frustrated, asking me “why don’t I know these things?”

There were moments when he made little jokes and he made fun of my short haircut. There were other moments when he was unable to think of a word he wanted to use and simply mumbled strangely.

He said his mind “plays tricks” on him. In past visits his frustration with his deteriorating mental capacity made him so frustrated and unhappy that he has actually cried while we were talking. This visit he seemed at peace with it all.

I told him it was OK that he forgot these things and that some details were really not important. I don’t think he believed me.

His questions were strangely focused on the nature of my business and my owning the business and how many people work for me. He asked those questions over and over again. And at several occasions he stopped and told me he was proud of me.

It was very sad and I could see he was mentally failing and that his health seemed to be declining. His breathing was shallow and I wondered if he had the strength to recover from the cough. When I went back the next day at 11 in the morning he was not yet out of bed, very unusual for him, and seemed weaker. I returned home wondering if he was near the end.

While you're here check out the funniest thing I have ever seen on South Park You're the retarded offspring of five monkeys having butt sex with a fish squirrel. Congratulations!

OK, maybe this one was the funniest, Randy on Wheel of Fortune on South Park

Here we go with something that came in my email not long ago that is a perfect explanation of Science vs Faith
